The Reputations (Austin, TX)
Renowned writer Kevin Curtin of The Austin Chronicle described The Reputations as "Shoulder-shaking AM pop with invigorating, five-voice melodies. They sound like a long lost Sixties family band – but atop modern energy."
The band has been filling clubs all over Austin with their high octane live shows. When it came time to record the follow up to their 2016 record Begging For More, they wanted to capture that blend of 60s and 70s influences and decided to go straight to the source: Ardent Studios in Memphis, where legendary records by Isaac Hayes, R.E.M., Albert Collins, ZZ Top, and, of course, Big Star, were all recorded.
The band even recruited Big Star drummer Jody Stephens to co-produce the sessions with longtime Ardent engineer Adam Hill. The result is the forthcoming full-length Electric Power (Nov. 9, Nine Mile Records), a record that accurately captures the band's blend of garage rock, 70s soul, and beautiful, layered harmonies.
